about

Josh and I went to high school together. We instantly bonded over the music of Stanton Moore and Skerik's Syncopated Taint Septet. We have been close friends ever since and still love their music. Both of us started and dropped out of jazz school over ten years ago. Since then we've had a plethora of musical journeys that have lead us back to this spot. Not long before christmas we decided to get together and make a record. We had no songs, we just wanted to see what would happen. We've made records together in the past, but never on our main instruments of sax and drums. On the day we just pressed record and started playing, and this is some of what we played.

With christmas around the corner, I thought it would be a nice idea to put this out into the world as a gift. That's why it's called Merry Christmas. We hope to do this again next year. That's why it's called Volume 1.

These recordings are the culmination of many years of friendship and musical experience expressed in a collection of improvised jams. It's probably the most valuable thing I've ever recorded, but to you it's free. Unless you wanna pay for it I guess.

Thanks for listening, hope you enjoy.

Merry Christmas
xGus

Both of us started and subsequently dropped out of jazz school over 10 years ago. Recently we went into the studio to make an "art record". We had no plans, no "songs" to record. We just pressed record and played, and this is some of it. ... more
